Ch-ch-ch-changes!

My step-dad is unloading real estate. Fifth Street Apartments and Fifth Street Resale are going bye-bye. Lora, formerally co-manager of Fifth Street Resale, will be working daily at the community center across the street, replacing my next door neighbor, Annalara, who will be running the new house-converted-into-a-corner-store around the corner. Emily will be working at the store, too.

I will be supervising things from my attic. ;p

I don't know if this is the first move in THE PLAN to relocate but it's obvious that we're pulling more into the community, the way it was in the before time; pre-1970s. Personally, I'd druther it be that way.

I have two girlfriends who will both be going to school with me come August, and working within shouting distance very soon. My family lives right next door. I have horses. I have woods. A pond. We're on a bluff 100 feet high that looks out over the Mississippi River with flatland scenery that stretches out for miles over Missouri.

I have TONS, and I mean FUCKIN' TONS, of reading materal, viewing material, (YAY4BUFFY!!!) sex toys, KITCHEN KNIVES, wine, frozen meat, marshmellows, chocolate chips. (To stuff in the marshmellows.)

I get to see ravens, rabbits, groundhogs, foxes, deer a dozens of multi colored birds. Every January when the river freezes American Bald Eagles gather to fish at the lock and dam. I can hear coyotes howl at night.

I can walk around the community and even into town anytime day or night and feel safe, PLUS, never has any ONE girl ever been able to go out and TP people's houses with the frequancy that I do.

Everyone here likes me. ^_^

Leaving would be a very difficult thing to do. :( (On a side note; LONDON has been ruled out for relocation. I've heard about this "slapping" thing and there is NO WAY I would stand for such a thing cause I SWEAR the very first person that slapped me would start to walk away and I would jump on his back and knock him to the ground and start smashing his face into the concrete! Then I'd grip his hair at both temples and start scraping his face side to side on the concrete so it would tear into his flesh DOWN TO THE BONE and his FUCKIN' teeth would start to break from scraping against the concrete and then I would start smashing his face into the concrete again and I would smash it and smash it andSMASHITSMASHITSMASHITSMASHIT!!!

Anyways, I would love for us to become semi-isolationists. There's a Amish community about 2 miles from here and tho they come into town often they never socialize with anyone. Friendly people when you do the addressing but I don't think I've ever heard of any of them starting a conversation with people living in Quincy.

We have farmland but it's mostly used to grow sellable harvests. Corn one year, soybean the next, then corn again. (I won't bore you with the whys of that system. If you're interested, Google it.)

Right now it's mushroom season. Every year at this time you'll find hundreds of people in Quincy waking before the crack of dawn to go out looking for them. (A certain kind.) I never got into the whole `shroom thing but Lora did it since she was just a wee little Belle so sometimes I go out with her and Annalara. And of course Emily is all gung ho for any new experiance. P.s. these mushrooms aren't the kind that get you high.

Changing the subject for a sec; Emily has admitted to us that she likes to do her morning primping AFTER breakfast, while Lora and I go right for the bathroom when the alarm goes off. Emily sleeps for an extra 15 minutes then sits at the kitchen table with us drinking her hot coco looking all discombluberated and sexy whatwith her hair sticking up every which way and her eyes half open whilst we sit primped and fresh admirering her.

Another subject change cause I thought this was SO cool!; Lora has gotten use to my late night wanderings and usually when she hears me banging around the house it barely wakes her. I have however been concerned about Emily's sleep so I try to be extra quiet now.

When I asked her t'other day if I woke her making too much noise the night before, she looked at me and said, "I kept hearing something but I figured it was you so I went back to sleep."

To which Lora then turns to me and says, "See, you've officially become THAT THING THAT GOES BUMP IN THE NIGHT!"

Okay, back to the community...

My oldest and dearest and for many years ONLY friend, whom I grew up with and had my first sexual experiance with, Catherine (Katie became Kat at 15, became Kate at 18 and since has taken to calling herself Catherine.) will be coming home from college for the summer.

Our daughter will also be coming to spend the summer if things work out. If you haven't been a long time friend and reader of my blog; Our "daughter" is Lora's young cousin Ashley who lived with us for nearly five months last year. We talk to her regularly now and although we haven't figured out how to explain our new Emily to her yet, she's an intelligent little sweetie so it'll be good.

Took a look down a westbound road, right away I made my choice.
Headed out to my big two wheeler, I was tired of my own voice.
Took a beat on the northern plains and just rolled that power on.
Twelve hours out of Macanaw City stopped at a bar to have a brew.
Met a girl and we had a few drinks and I told her what I decided to do.
She looked out the window a long, long moment then she looked into my eyes.
She didn't have to say a word.
I knew what she was thinkin'.
Rooooll, roll me away, won't you roll me away tonight.
I too am lost and I feel double crossed and I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right.
We never even said a word we just walked out and got on that bike.
And we rolled, and we rolled clean out of sight.

I know Ashley is gonna love Emily and Emily will no doubt go iNsAnE over our sweetum nookiecookie widdle beeter button wuvvie duvvie! :p

Last Tuesday afternoon, Rep. Dave Zuckerman (Prog.-VT) dropped the third of three nearly unreported bombshells on the Bush administration.

Zuckerman, along with 12 fellow lawmakers, introduced a formal resolution for the Vermont state legislature to call on the U.S. House of Representatives to impeach President George W. Bush.

With this resolution, Vermont joined the California and Illinois state legislatures, already embroiled in impeachment debates of their own.

Not if the selling of some real estate is the only evidence - US real estate prices peaked around August 2005 (though the moment varied from place to place), now is probably about the optimum time to liquidate real estate assets in your area to avoid the property price declines that are imminent.

What to do with the money? That is not so easy. Any US$ denominated assets (stocks, bonds etc) would be daft, the US$ is behaving just as I predicted at end 2005, it has now lost > 3% in last couple of weeks, broken through two significant support levels and will soon fall a further 3%+ before the plunge pauses significantly.

Commodities look to be running too hot atm, I would wait for a 10% pull back in gold and silver before switching to them. Buy gold on any pullback to $600, silver below $12.

If you plan to stay put then investment in water, food and energy (wind and microhydro electricity, biodiesel) production for own use would be a wise choice.

My guess is that things begin to go seriously bad for GW Bush in just over a month's time. The first signs of a very serious financial collapse should be clear by the end of September 2006. If I am right on these then things will proceed to get very bad over the next handful of years, so bad that the world in 2010 will be more different from now than was 1980.

BTW 'happy slapping' is a misnomer, it is effectively mugging and often a more serious physical assault than you seem to think. You would probably be in no fit state to retaliate after an attack.

What kinds of mushrooms do you get round your way at this time of year? Most of ours in UK are late summer / autumnal, though there are some, like morrels, that are vernal.

The US$ thing...

I saw something today, here:

that quite surprised me: "Over the past two and a half weeks, we have essentially seen the demise of the dollar. The mighty greenback sold off 600 pips against the Euro, 500 pips against the Japanese Yen and a whopping 1000 pips against the British pound. In fact, the dollar has now given back over 50 percent of its 2005 gains and is on the path to lose even more. By now, everyone should realize the power that the G7 meetings have on the markets. As we have warned on the Monday following the G7 announcement, the initial drop was just a precursor to an even bigger move."

Hmmm, the US$ has got a lot more demise to go before it is fully demised, lol. IMO it has to break through it's 80% index level before its demise is even a glimmer in the currency markets' eyes.

But be aware: the value of the US$ could almost totally evaporate in a quite short time. I don't expect this to happen in the near future but that is a low-ish probability event. However, the markets and economy are global now, things could happen fast, the US$ could literally halve in value overnight.

Over the last century the US$ has generally appreciated in value. I'm not sure of the exact definition of its trade weighted index but the lowest it has been in recent decades is 78%. Here's a link to a graph of the last couple of years:

The US$ is at 85.5% today and likely to fall a bit yet, it has fallen 4.5% in April.

In explanation of the corn / soy rotation...

Legumes (like Soy beans) fix nitrogen in the soil and corn (maize) is quite greedy for nitrogen. This 2 year rotation, while good very short term, is not sustainable for long and does have to be supplemented with additional fertilisers and minerals.

Better crop rotations are 4 or more years including a year of fallow, green manure or animal pasture use.

Man cannot live on soy and corn alone. BTW, time to get sowing them pumpkins, lol.
