I think about 350 people are killed, on average, on US roads EVERY day. One child dies every 3 seconds on this planet due to lack of food or clean water.
If I am sadly right between 2 and 6 billion people will die prematurely in our adjustment to a post peak oil world - that's between 30% and 90% of global population.
So, though every unnecessary and avoidable death is cause for grief, death is ultimately inevitable. My best advice is to understand the maybe unnecessary causes and do all you can to avoid them yourself, inform your family and friends, and try to inform others who may listen.
If I am correct, the people that own the home have turned themselves in and will be subjected to 34 criminal charges - something like essentially man-slaughter. They will obvious be the first to be lynch mobbed by the media, government officials and the like. Somehow though, I doubt a single government official will face a similiar charge.
